ONE of Carus Green golf club’s PGA professionals has been selected to represent the club at a national award’s ceremony.
Andrew Pickering has been nominated for TGI-PING’s ‘Custom Fitter of the Year’ and will be going head-to-head with nine other finalists at the ‘big reveal’ on November 29 at Ping Europe’s Headquarters in Gainsborough.  The winner receives a trip to Ping US, in Phoenix, Arizona, next year.

Custom club fitting has become a growing part of the Carus Green Golf Centre’s offering, with customer fits up 45.22% on 2017 and custom fitting revenue increasing by an impressive 32.02 % year-on-year.  Overall, this service has contributed to a 10% increase in sales across the entire business.

The Kendal-based centre uses the latest Flightscope technology and on-site facilities, such as its GC2 golf simulator, to accurately record club head data and provide vital statistics which can significantly improve performance.  The system measures ball speed, launch angle, rpm and spin axis, calculating both the carry distance and total distance of the shot.

“Finding the perfect lie angle, shaft flex and grip thickness for your body type and golf swing is critical when it comes to improving your game,” explained Pickering. “Anything less than the perfect fit could be affecting your distance and precision. We are extremely fortunate to have state-of-the-art facilities at Carus to evaluate every aspect of the game, including an adjustable indoor putting green – the only one of its kind in Cumbria – and can measure exactly what’s happening at the very moment the club hits the ball.

“Custom fit is a real team effort here, so I’m delighted to be representing Carus as a finalist for this prestigious award and hope to be able to bring it home!”
