GATEWAY to Wales Golf has secured two new sponsors for their 2019 Spring and Autumn Golf Festivals.

Their Spring Golf Festival, held over the Spring Bank Holiday, will be known as ‘The Gateway to Wales Spring Golf Festival sponsored by the Springfield Hotel 2019’ after the popular Holywell-based hotel offered to provide £150 for the winners of the Best Aggregate over the three courses.

The Spring Bank Holiday Festival will commence at Northop on Saturday, May 25, move on to Hawarden on Sunday, May 26 and finish at Holywell on Monday, May 27. They have also kindly provided a prize for the best Mixed Aggregate score of an overnight B&B voucher for the hotel.

Managing director Sebastian Janney said: “We are absolutely delighted to support the event as last year’s golf festivals brought an influx of golf visitors to the area.”

Gateway to Wales Golf’s spokesman John Green confirmed that each club would also be providing prizes for first, second and third positions on each day. He said: “Following a very successful Autumn Golf Festival in 2018 which saw over 130 entries to the event, 90% of whom were visitors to Flintshire, Gateway to Wales Golf are also pleased to announce that the Autumn Golf Festival will be sponsored by the Beaufort Park Hotel & Conference Centre, Mold.”

Padeswood & Buckley will be hosting the first of the three days on Friday, September 27, Mold will be on Saturday, September 28 and Old Padeswood on Sunday, September 29. The aggregate winners of the event will also win £150 together with the title ‘The Gateway to Wales Autumn Golf Festival Champions sponsored by the Beaufort Park Hotel’.

Like the Springfield Hotel, Beaufort Park has also kindly agreed to supply a B&B voucher for an overnight stay as the Mixed Aggregate Prize. Again there will be prizes for each day of the competition.

Commenting on the sponsorship arrangements, Green said: “Following last year’s success we are really pleased to have both hotels on board. We are fortunate to have the aid of Flintshire County Council’s leisure & tourism officer who helped us to obtain the support of these two prestigious Flintshire hotels, providing us with invaluable help through the last three years in establishing and promoting Gateway to Wales Golf and the county’s courses to visitors from throughout the UK and Europe.

“Both hotels will have accommodation packages available for festival entrants.”
