WORSLEY Park, Marriott Hotel & Country Club, has continued its award-winning run with yet another win at this year’s 59club awards, this time taking the title of Golf Operations Team of the Year.
The seventh annual 59club awards have again celebrated service excellence in golf across the globe from the UK to the Middle East; regarded by many as the Oscars of the Golf Industry.
Worsley Park were nominated for six awards including a second year running for course manager Ian Brawn who was joined by Emma Thompson (Leading Individual Golf Sales Performance); Steve Webster (Golf Membership Sales Team of the Year); Golf Operation Team of the Year; Steve Hindle (Golf Retail Manager of the Year) and Darren Mercer (Food and Beverage Manager of the Year).
On the night, it was to be the entire team who would be recognised with the win as the hotly-contested Golf Operations Team of the Year award was handed to Steve Hindle on behalf of the entire Worsley Park golf team.
Darren Mercer, director of golf and leisure at Worsley Park added: “Winning an award is always a huge honour, however it is even more special when it recognises the effort of the whole team involved in creating the atmosphere and experience that we are all so proud of.
“It makes it even more special to know that our team have been singled out above so many others across the globe in terms of their service excellence, dedication and steadfast vision of creating an engaging golf experience from the moment our guests arrive, until they time they leave.”
The 59Club awards are run by a leading independent body that monitor the golf industry and rewards excellence. Nominees and winners of the awards were decided based on the experience of mystery shoppers who visit venues around the world to assess their service level in every aspect, from the shop and food, to the course and facilities.
Derek Harvey, general manager summed up the win by saying: “We couldn’t be prouder of the team who work tirelessly to create the best possible golfing experience both on and off the course.
“This was the award we were really hoping for as we believe that Worsley Park really does have the best team in the world when it comes to delivering golfing excellence.”
Worsley Park Marriott Hotel & Country Club claimed one last victory before the night was over, with former director of golf, Adam Moule, now the secretary at Royal Birkdale, also winning an award for Golf Manager of the Year – adding yet more cause for celebration.
