A STAFF member at a Colwyn Bay school collected a haul of trophies from a recent golf club presentation event.
Dawn Jones, a sports coach at Rydal Penrhos, picked up no fewer than nine trophies from the Rhos on Sea Golf Club presentation night, which was held at the club last month.
The seven-handicapper has had a standout year on course, winning the club’s Order of Merit, club knockouts, GUW Medals and monthly medal and Stableford competitions. She was selected to the Denbighshire and Flintshire team for the first time, while also receiving a call-up to the North Wales squad following her exceptional performances. Dawn, who has been working at Rydal Penrhos for four years, said: “It was a lot of hard work playing up to the handicap every week, but I managed to have some success throughout the year which was very pleasing.
“Playing for both D&F and North Wales was an unforgettable experience and one I had not sampled before, and it is something I am definitely going to look to do more of so it is up to me to continue to do well in the hope of earning further call-ups.”
In addition to her success on the course, Dawn has also recently completed her Level one golf coaching qualification in the hope of inspiring the next generation of players in the region.
The talented golfer is no stranger to sporting success, having earned a national hockey squad selection for Wales in her younger years.
