WINDERMERE’S Adam Chapman has been selected to join the England team defending the men’s title of the European Nations Championship.
Taking place at La Reserva Golf Club in Sotogrande, Spain, from February 24-27, the former Lakes School pupil, 20, will be joining teammates, James Allan of Essex, Marco Penge of Sussex and Ashton Turner of Lincolnshire.
The 2015 North of England champion, who recently completed an England Golf tour of Australia, where he reached the matchplay stages of the Australian and New South Wales championships, is now training in Portugal ahead of the championship.
The event is contested over 72 holes of strokeplay, with the best three cards each day counting. An individual competition runs simultaneously with the Nations Championship.
England won last year for the sixth time, with a one-stroke victory. All four members of that team have since turned professional. “We’re delighted that Adam has been selected to defend England’s title this month in Spain and will be supporting him wholeheartedly,” said Windermere captain, Cliff Heath.
“As a club, we are extremely proud of Adam and his achievements and will continue to support his ambitions.”
