DIDSBURY member Lynda Goddard showed age is no barrier when she completed 70 lengths of a 25-metre swimming pool to mark her 70th birthday and raise funds for lady captain Margaret Lloyd’s chosen charity – Parkinsons.
A keen swimmer, Lynda took up the challenge at Total Fitness in Altrincham.
Her lengths, which varied between front crawl and backstroke, were recorded by Margaret. Lynda was also given enthusiastic support at the pool by husband Jim and several ladies from Didsbury.
She reached her 1,750-metre target in 45 minutes and said: “I was a little slower than usual – probably due to nerves and I was struggling with a lump in my throat, indigestion and light-headedness, but I think that the lady captain was very pleased!
“I would like to thank everyone who supported me and sponsored me before and during the challenge.”
