SIMON Craig has only been a member at Ashton-under-Lyne since 2014 but has already written his name in their record books with an amazing pair of aces within two weeks of each other.
The 11-handicapper said: “I was playing in the club’s Pro-Am with David Shacklady when I notched the first ace on the fourth hole.
“It is a tough 210 yards and teeing off first with my hybrid four iron, the ball pitched on the green and rolled into the hole to the delight of my playing partners and I.
“It was great to do it in front of a pro and there were drinks all round in the clubhouse to celebrate.”
He didn’t have to wait long for another.
“Playing in the first round of a president’s event a couple of weeks later none of us were playing well and Chris Sherlock urged me to put my tee shot in the hole again.
“With a strong wind behind, I only needed a nine-iron this time. I hit it with a touch of draw and again it pitched on the green and rolled into the hole.
“We could not believe it and again celebrated in style with my lucky playing partner Scott Tomlinson witnessing both of them.”
