ALSAGER Golf and Country Club have become only the third golf club in Cheshire to be presented with the coveted GolfMark award by England Golf.
The club has been recognised for its continuous work to encourage people to Get into Golf, while also helping its members to develop their skills and enthusiasm for the game.
Alsager has many initiatives encouraging gents, ladies and junior players into golf, including beginner and member improvement courses, new members open day, weekly junior coaching, outreach to local schools and community groups and starter membership packages.
Commenting on the award, club captain Paul Shenton said: “As a club we recognise the importance of making the game enjoyable and accessible to players of all abilities. We are continuously developing programmes for new and existing members and are delighted to be recognised by England Golf for our achievements both on and off the course.”
The award was presented by Sean Hammill, one of two county officers for the Cheshire Golf Development Group which seeks to help clubs both attract and retain members. Hammill said: “Congratulations to Alsager for their drive and enthusiasm in embracing all aspects of the GolfMark process and in achieving this award.
“Golf is a sport that is a game for life and has so many health and social benefits to be enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities. The team at Alsager work hard to promote that in their area.”
GolfMark is an official seal of approval for clubs which successfully work to develop the game by attracting new members and encouraging existing members to play more, using practical business planning to develop the club, offering coaching and playing opportunities for all golfers and ensuring safeguarding policies are in place.
