HOWARD Bennett’s autobiographical Stories, Observations, Suggestions has gone into print for a sixth time since it was launched less than four years ago.
“We’ve produced more than 500 to date and sales have raised something in the region of £6,000 for the Preston-based Rosemere Cancer Hospital,” said the PGA master professional.
Bennett, a former Irish coach who helped to nurture Open champions Padraig Harrington, Darren Clarke and Rory McIlroy, added: “Hopefully we will continue to build on that figure. Most of the donations have been £10 but quite a lot have contributed £100 for one copy.
“The Golfing Union of Ireland gave us £1,000 which was very generous of them. And Padraig also did the foreword for me.”
Southport-based Bennett, 79, who served as professional at Shaw Hill and Duxbury Park among other clubs, was the PGA in England & Wales (North) regional winner of the Toby Sunderland Award presented on the eve of last year’s Open Championship at Royal Liverpool.
