JONNY Chaisty was inspired as a junior at Denton to make golf his career and now, 11 years on, he has been named the new director of golf at MacDonald Spey Valley, Aviemore, Golf Resort in Scotland.
The former junior captain who joined Denton in 2005 has worked his way quickly up to the prestigious role having started out as summer help as a greenkeeper at Denton for five years between school and college.
“I also worked in professional Mike Hollingworth’s shop as well as behind the bar at Denton, all of which gave me a great grounding in golf,” said Chaisty.
He gained a BA Hons Golf Management degree at Myerscough College in 2012 and joined the staff at Mottram Hall as golf operations supervisor later that year.
He went on to become golf sales co-ordinator and golf sales manager in 2014 before becoming head of golf in January 2015.
“My biggest achievement to date is successfully running Sir Alex Ferguson’s golf day in 2014 – as a season ticket holder at Manchester United it was an unbelievable experience,” added the eight-handicapper.
“I decided to make the move to Spey Valley to give me a new experience in golf and while I am sad to leave behind my family, friends and work colleagues at Denton and Mottram Hall I am looking forward with great anticipation to the next challenge in my golfing life.”
