BRAMHALL Golf Club’s Gareth and Charles Bradley came agonisingly close to winning the European Father and Sons tournament in Spain.
At the end of day one at Sherry Golf Club, they were tied on five-under-par in top spot level with four other teams. They kept up their great form on day two to lead by four shots going into a dramatic final day.
Needing a par on the 18th hole, a demanding 450-yard par four into a very strong wind with water all along the left side, Gareth narrowly missed a 12-footer which meant they had to join two other teams, including European Tour player Matthew Southgate (who came 12th in The Open Championship) in a sudden-death play-off.
At the first extra hole Charles had a putt to win but he also missed and Southgate went on to hole a 35-footer from off the green at the next hole to win.
