WINDERMERE Golf Club and England elite squad player Adam Chapman has been chosen by England Golf to play on the Australian tour.
One of four players from the England elite squad to be selected, Chapman will be departing the UK on January 1 to take part in a series of competitions ‘down under’, which start on January 6.
The ‘Master of the Amateurs’ will run from January 6-9 at Royal Melbourne Golf Club; the ‘Australian Amateur’ runs from January 12-17 at the Metropolitan and Kingswood golf clubs, in Victoria; the ‘Lake Macquarie’ competition takes place from January 21-24 at Belmont Golf Club, New South Wales and the final competition is the ‘New South Wales Amateur’, at Riverside Oaks and Lynwood golf clubs, which is played over six days in both a strokeplay and matchplay format.
In total, Chapman will spend five weeks in the country. Having retained his North of England title at Pannal Golf Club in Yorkshire, he is currently in Portugal undertaking winter training in preparation and is feeling confident ahead of the event.
“I’m absolutely over the moon at having been selected for the Australian tour and can’t wait to visit Australia – a country I haven’t visited before,” he said. “I’ve been training particularly hard over recent months and practicing more beneficially has seen real improvements to my game.”
“We are delighted that Adam has been selected to play in Australia and wish him well,” said Windermere chairman Cliff Heath. “We all think of Adam as an ambassador for Windermere Golf Club and we will do everything we can to support him in his career. Once again, we’ll all be supporting him – this time, from the other side of the world!”
