THE timing was perfect for Dubliner Nuala Kelly as she drove into office as the new lady captain of Chester Golf Club on St Patrick’s Day.
Nuala was born and raised in Ireland’s capital city. She married husband Don, also an active member at Chester, in 1968 and lived in various parts of Ireland and for a period in the US. She came to live permanently in Chester in 2005.
The couple have three children, David, Sarah and Andrew and have four grandchildren, three boys and one girl. David and Andrew live in Ireland and Sarah lives in France.
The 24-handicapper started playing golf when she retired from working at a medical products company. She joined the Curzon Park club in 2002.
She and the new men’s captain, John Chisholm, have chosen the Haematology Oncology Suite at the Countess of Chester Hospital as their chosen charity for the year.
Jan Sewell, Jane Bell, Jane Chowen and Maggi Cox scored 54 points to win the 13-hole Am-Am Stableford that followed the Drive-In. They beat Pat Willis, Chris Charlesworth, Sheila Banham and Jo Kendall on a countback.
