CROMPTON and Royton professional Martin Beaty has stepped his golfing career up a gear by collecting the PGA Director of Golf Award at Birmingham University.
The award recognises the work and knowledge of the professional relating to the ever changing golf industry.
To win the award Martin had to demonstrate written knowledge of several specialised areas covered as workbook units such as personal, operational and strategic management, finance and marketing management, food and beverage, corporate functions and events, club facilities and management principles.
He received his award from PGA captain Nicky Lumb and director of the Ryder Cup Richard Hills.
Martin said: “I was delighted to receive the award after a lot of hard work as I can see that the role of director of golf will continue to be used in many more golf clubs in the coming years to utilise the skills of the professional to maximum effect.”
