SHREWSBURY Golf Club’s Richard Allen is celebrating after hitting his first hole-in-one last month.
The 23-handicapper hit a rescue wood on the 212-yard 14th. It pitched on the green, rolled up to the pin and dropped in the hole.
Richard, from Bentlawnt near Bishops Castle, is the principle of Shrewsbury Osteopaths and has been playing golf for more than 20 years. He began playing at the Condover-based club five years ago. He admits that he wasn’t playing a particularly good round up to the 14th. “I was delighted, it was very sweet,” he said.
Richard was playing in a friendly match with Ken Anderson, John Burrows and Steve Dawson. Steve said: “It looked good all the way. There was a nice shape to the shot and then it disappeared into the hole. We all shouted It’s in!”
