Hat-trick for Bull Bay ace

AN ANGLESEY golfer has completed a hat-trick of championship successes.

Sion Thomas, who plays off scratch at Bull Bay, won the North Wales Counties individual championship with rounds of 74 and 70 at Conwy when he narrowly edged out Ioan Drosinos Jones (Abersoch) by a single shot.

The 32-year-old’s success at Conwy followed earlier victories in the Anglesey Championship, which he won for the fourth time at Holyhead in June with a 36-hole total of 145, and a win at his home club championship at Bull Bay in late May.

The list of victories could have been longer as the personal finance assistant also reached the final of the Anglesey County Matchplay Championship only losing out by 3&2 to Matthew Rankenhohn (Henllys).
