ALEX Rowland is relishing his role of PGA North captain.
“It’s a great honour and I’m thrilled to bits,” enthused the Hawarden professional who also serves as club manager, secretary and oversees the green staff.
“I’ve never looked back since I came here in 1997,” said Rowland, 46, who joined the PGA 28 years ago. But he will still find time to play and fulfil his obligations as captain.
“The club are delighted and aware that I will be away quite a lot but they’re happy with that,” he added.
“I’ve been running my own Pro-Am at Hawarden for 10 years and we are hoping to get a few on the Cheshire and North Wales circuit this season.”
Rowland, who has three young boys, including nine-year-old twins, started his career as assistant to Alan Thompson at Heswall.
