Lancs lasses are Wee Wonders

SEVEN Lancashire girls played leading roles in the Grand Finals of the Wee Wonders Open Golf Championships in St Andrews.

The event is the leading junior golf competition for under 12s with regional qualifying competitions across the UK and Ireland.

Those girls competing on the Balgove short course at St Andrews played three rounds over two days. In the five-eight age group, Sofia McGhie (Lancaster) came sixth (+38). In the nine-10 age group, Boh Greenwood (Rossendale) came fourth (+11), Emily James (Rossendale) came sixth (+13), Grace Evans (Fleetwood) came eighth (+15) and Leah Butler (Hindley Hall) was ninth (+16).

In the 11-12 age group competition, played over two rounds on the Strathtyrum course, Sophie Wood (Harwood) finished seventh (+28) and Molly McIntosh (Formby Ladies) came 16th (+65).

All the girls enjoyed playing at “the home of golf” and competing in such a fantastic competition. A winning line-up.
