Little big-shot Sean wins captain’s prize

By David Birtill

SEAN Dobson has been crowned youngest winner of a men’s competition at Dunscar Golf Club – at the age of 11.

And he certainly picked the right event to achieve his feat because it was Captain’s Day!

Sean, who has a 16 handicap, posted an impressive six-under-par 65 to spread eagle the field and get his name etched on the honour’s board.

And to prove it was no fluke, he won the captain’s junior competition the following day, which included an eagle on the 17th.

Sean, who attends Bolton School, joined the club three years ago and is a product of the junior golf programme, which won the Bolton Golf Association’s Team Championship in 2015.

He was encouraged to take up golf by his dad Peter who plays off a six handicap.

Dunscar has recently allowed promising juniors to compete with the men.
