Powered Wheelchair Appeal enjoyed their first event of 2015 last month at a Chinese Banquet evening at the Fortune Palace, in Delamere Forest.
As on many previous evenings, the food was superb and everyone enjoyed a testing fun quiz and raffle but the highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the presentation of the PWA’s 330th powered wheelchair to 13-year-old Jason Thornton, from Sale. Jason loves football, is a keen supporter of Manchester United and plays wheelchair football with Sale United.
With Jason on the night were his mum Dawn, and dad Russell, and on behalf of the appeal, immediate past captain Brian Prince, lady captain Janet Richards and President Ken Woodward, had the pleasure of presenting the wheelchair to Jason and his family.
A fantastic total of £900 was raised during the evening. Lady Captain Janet said: Huge thanks must go to our wonderful supporters who braved the cold and frosty weather! Without this support many children and their families would struggle but the great news is the wheelchairs make such a difference to their lives.
Many thanks must also go to Pat and her team at the Fortune Palace for their continued support and generosity it is much appreciated. Pictured (from left) are: Helsby lady captain Janet Richards, immediate past captain Brian Prince, president Ken Woodward and Jason Thornton.
