THE Manchester Alliance fixture at Warrington enjoyed superb weather and some great scoring reflected this. The top pro position saw Paul Grannell (Vale Royal Abbey) and Davis Brunton (Ringway) close the gap on Order of Merit leader Danny Wardrop (Stockport) as they tied for the top individual pro prize with 41 points each, one more than Alliance captain Tim Maxwell (Knutsford).
It was also close in the Pro-Am section with Alliance new boys Ant Dempsey and Jeff Hughes from Helsby posting a fine score of 46 points, which left them one clear of Stamford’s Mark Smith and Ian Trow who won a countback from David Green (Dukinfield) and Paul Crisp (Ashton-on-Mersey). There were four pairs on 44 points with the prizes going to Tony Stevens (Davenport) and Russ Johnson (Warrington) and Grant Hamerton and Barry Yates (Pike Fold).
Chorlton’s in-form duo of John Davies and Liam Harrison were top of the tree in the Am-Am section with 45 points from Terry Gilbert and Phil Prince (Altrincham) on 44 and Marc Gauci (Chorlton) and John Russell (Sale) with 43.
