Presidential role for Bramhall lady

BRAMHALL Golf Club’s Chris Kelly has been appointed president of the Manchester and District Ladies Golf Association (MDLGA).

Chris said: “I joined Chorlton Golf Club as a beginner in 1993 and spent enjoyable years there before moving to Bramhall, which is in the area where I live.

“I have been a member there for the past 18 years and had the pleasure of being lady captain in 2003.

“I joined the MDLGA committee in 2006 and served for three years, learning to be a competitions organiser in my first year, running competitions in my second year and training a new committee member in my third year. I also helped and joined in with various other activities.

“I am proud to represent Bramhall Golf Club as president of MDLGA and hope this brings honour to my golf club, which will host the prestigious Bell Cup final and I will look forward to upholding the traditions of MDLGA throughout the year.

“I met Jackie Foy playing in a competition at Davyhulme Park when I first took up golf and it was Jackie who encouraged me to be part of MDLGA which I have thoroughly enjoyed.

“The courses MDLGA offer for their competitions in the north and south of Manchester are first class and we are pleased to organise the competitions for fellow golfers to enjoy.”

The MDLGA competitions for 2016 are: Bunty Booth final at Denton on June 3, Challenge Cup/Lloyd Jones Scratch Trophy at Rochdale on July 15, Team event at Chorley on July 29, Bell Cup final at Bramhall on September 2, Greensome Stableford at Wilmslow on September 9.
