DIDSBURY hosted 14 Cheshire and Lancashire hopefuls looking to make the U16 North of England boys’ squad.
After two days of skill tests and an 18-hole scratch Stableford, six were selected to go on to the next stage where they will enjoy a trip to Woodhall Spa and in the coming months also pay against representative teams from other regions and receive more coaching.
Didsbury pro and Cheshire and North of England coach Peter Barber was helped by Ron Harrison and Graham McCormack who admitted it was a tough task to choose the final six.
Rossendale’s Luke Barton, who won the competition, was the only Lancashire player. He was joined by Cheshire’s Archie Palmer, Josh Turnock, James Ashfield, Ryan Nevins and Sam Long.
