Worsley Park captain hoping to make a Mark

MARK Brown has been officially sworn into his new role as captain at the Worsley Park Marriott Hotel & Country Club with the traditional Captain’s Drive-In last month.

Having driven his way into role as club captain, the four-handicapper from Worsley, greeted the rest of the 80-strong field for a day of competition in celebration of the Mark’s appointment.

“It’s a real honour to be appointed the new captain of Worsley Park – especially as the club reaches its 20th anniversary this year,” he said.

As Mark joins the committee tasked with shaping the direction of the club and member experience, he is committed to delivering one of the best golf experiences in the North West. Mark added: “Not only is the course one of the best in the region, but the staff and members create a welcoming and friendly community that embraces new members from around the region. Add to this the incredible facilities including a world class gym (that is soon to be getting a top to bottom renovation), leisure facilities, bars and restaurants – and you really have a recipe for success.”

Mark, who owns Golf and Business together (GBT Events) has been a member at Worsley Park Marriott Hotel & Country Club for the last 20 years, taking the role of vice-captain last year, before accepting the role of captain for this 2019–20 season.

The role of Worsley Park golf captain is not all about the meetings and difficult decisions. Stephen Hindle, golf manager at Worsley Park explained: “We are also looking forward to Mark’s input into a wide range of events and away-days. We have always prided ourselves in one of the best Captain’s days in the region and our members love the captain’s trips across the country.

“With Mark at the helm it’s set to be another fantastic year of golf ahead of us.”
