AGE is no handicap for golfers – and the younger they are the better, according Andy Leigh, the Golf Foundation’s North West regional development officer.
He has launched the Junior Players’ Series which affords the opportunity for children from five to 12 to take their first steps on a golf course and play in a relaxed environment.
“It’s not too daunting for them and it’s all about having fun,” he explained.
“Euxton Park Golf Centre is great for learning the fundamentals and local clubs such as Chorley, where I’m a member, have great junior sections to further develop the game.
“This latest initiative complements the Junior Golf Passport National Learning Scheme and is all about getting learners on a short course. I believe we have a genuine start, learn, play and stay pathway for the Chorley area.”
He added: “We have organised six events on the Duxbury Park four-hole Academy Course which is perfect for beginners.”
